DARWIN’S FROG…
Darwin’s frog (or brooding frogs) are only known from the temperate forests of southern Chile and just into Argentina, and they are well camouflaged to look like the Chilean bamboo and monkey puzzle leaves found on the forest floor where they live.

This small frog does something so unusual that Darwin ought to be embarrassed that it is named after him, for it does not help the cause of evolution:

The male has vocal sacs that he uses to sing with, but they are structured in such a way that he can also use them to hold the eggs that the female lays! The eggs go into his mouth and from there do not go into his stomach, but into two channels on the floor of his mouth. These lead into a pouch under his neck, which grows larger as the eggs hatch. When the baby frogs are born, they remain there till they pass through the larval stage.

All that has to be just right in order for this frog to properly reproduce. Time and chance couldn’t produce this!

YOUR CREATED BLOOD VESSELS…
Your blood vessels are an amazing pipeline system that network throughout your entire body.
Blood vessels come in 3 types: arteries, veins, and capillaries. Capillaries are on the microscopic level and link the smallest artieries to the veins. They are the most abundant type of blood vessels, and if all the capillaries in your body were laid end to end, they would stretch around the equator 2 times!

Blood is pumped through capillaries with enough force to drive the plasma through the porous walls of these tiny vessels, resulting in the nourishment of surrounding cells. However, the pressure is not too strong that red and white blood cells are lost or capillaries burst.

There HAS to be a perfect balance of pressure between the blood flowing within the vessel, the blood being forced through vessel walls, and the blood in and around the body’s cells.

This absolutely perfect balance requires an Intelligent Designer (God), who put this all in place at the beginning of creation.

PARROTFISH COCOONS…
At night, parrotfish emit mucous from its gills and build a cocoon bubble for sleeping.. kind of like pitching a tent. This mucous has properties that keep parasites away and also keeps its scent hidden from predators. The second the bubble is disturbed, it quickly escapes, just like a built-in alarm system. While a bit gross, God knew what He was doing with this curious fish.

Side fact: The white sandy beaches of Hawaii are made from the pooped out coral of a kind of parrotfish. Yes, it’s true!

VOLCANOES AND THE FLOOD…
The outermost layer of the Earth is called the crust, which isn’t completely solid. It’s made up of massive geologic sections called tectonic plates. Eighty miles under the surface of these plates is a layer of hot liquid magma along with a lot of explosive gasses. The tectonic plates float on top of the magma, and they move against each other at the same time. Pressure and friction build up on the magma and gasses until the pressure is released in an explosion. This extremely heated molten mixture explodes up through the cracks and out the Earth’s crust. The magma is called lava, and it passes through the Earth’s surface, spewing out as temperatures reach more than 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, scorching and burning anything in its way.

Scientists can measure the argon-40 produced after eruption, and the amount of potassium-40 responsible for the decay, and then figure out when the lava erupted. Many volcanoes, thought to have old ages, reveal that they erupted recently agreeing with the Biblical timeline.

On top of that, Answers in Genesis has actually put forth evidence that there was heavy volcanic activity during the year-long Genesis flood 4,500 years ago.

AMBER FOSSILS AND THE FLOOD…
Amber is fossilized tree resin, and it is often used to make jewelry. Many pieces contain well-preserved land and aquatic life forms, such as insects, flowers, bird feathers, mammals, water beetles, and barnacles.

To date, scientists have found more than 1,000 fossil species within amber, including more than 400 species of insect and 150 species of spider. It begs the question: where do all of the amber even come from, and how did so much of it get preserved?

Research reveals that amber needed lots of water to entomb these creatures. Water delays the process of “amberisation” (i.e. tree resin hardening). The tree resin stays stickier for longer periods of time underwater as compared to exposure in the air. With the amber being stickier for longer, more critters get caught within the floating globules of tree resin.

How could both freshwater and marine life become trapped in the same sticky tree sap? A catastrophic flood of worldwide proportions would have caused the uprooting of trees in enormous numbers, with waves causing copious quantities of tree resin to be released as billions of trees smashed against each other in the swirling currents. This sticky resin would have enveloped both aquatic and land organisms caught in the flood waters.

When you consider the myriad of amber fossils found worldwide, isn’t it obvious that lots of water was needed around the world to help create them?—a very big flood would certainly explain it.

GENETIC MISTAKES…
There are currently 4,000 known genetic diseases that have accumulated on the DNA code of human beings.

All of these mistakes are harmful (frequently fatal) to those born with these permanent errors to their DNA. We are all carrying around part of this damaged information, like a book containing thousands of misspelled words and grammatical errors.

These errors are passed down by parents to their children. If every new generation has an increase in the number of genetic mistakes, there must have been fewer mistakes in the past. The farther back we go, the more perfect our DNA code must have been. After all, Adam and Eve would have been genetically perfect. The world God made was good with no genetic flaws, including diseases or death.

So as time goes on, more and more errors will accumulate within the human genome, indicating that humans could not have existed for millions of years, as there would be far more “spelling mistakes” (genetic diseases).

DNA IS A LANGUAGE SAYS SCIENTISTS…
In the simplest single cell of bacteria, there is as much information as there is in every book in each of three metropolitan libraries combined.

If all the DNA in your body were placed end-to-end, it would stretch from here to the Moon more than 500,000 times! In book form, that information would completely fill the Grand Canyon more than 75 times!

Understanding DNA is just one small reason for believing you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalms 139:14)…Molecular biology has now uncovered an analogy between DNA and written human languages. It is more than an analogy, in fact: in terms of structure, the two are “mathematically identical.”

(In other words, its not analogous to a language–it IS a language). The truth is, once the nature of DNA became known, all naturalistic explanations for the universe and for life on earth were dead.

NO SUCH THING AS SIMPLE LIFE FORMS…
Roman Vishniac is a renowned photographer of microscopic scenes. One of his favorite subjects is one of the so-called simplest forms of life. This “simple” life, the protozoan, is supposedly the ancestor of all living things. However, Vishniac has noted that the protozoan is neither simple nor archaic in character. This creature carries out all the functions of life that we require millions of cells to sustain – all within a single cell.

There is a parallel in technology. The first adding machines were large and heavy contraptions. As these mechanical adding machines became smaller, they had to be more cleverly designed because they were smaller. The first electronic calculators were even smaller and lighter than their mechanical brothers. But they were still much larger and simpler than calculators today. As calculators have decreased in size, they have had to be more cleverly designed because they are smaller.

Vishniac has learned that the so-called “simple” one-celled creatures are not simple at all. This is because they must carry out the business of life within the limits of their small size. This has not swayed him from evolution. However, this fact has convinced him that current theories are wrong. You see, evolution is in trouble if there are no “simple” forms of life. We believe that this clear evidence that there are no simple forms of life – evidence powerful enough to sway the experts – supports the Bible’s claim that all forms of life were created in finished form by a wise Creator.

ALL CREATION PRAISES THE CREATOR…
One might be tempted to understand the statement that the entire creation praises God in a figurative manner, but that would be a judgment made on the basis of ignorance. First of all, the entire creation praises God in that it shows forth His handiwork (Romans 1:20). But, as all praise of God must be active as well as passive, we would also expect active praise of God in the creation, too. There is the song of the birds, beautiful to hear, and each bird has its own unique way to glorify its Creator in praise. Modern science has also discovered that just like the land creatures, the sea creatures, too, each have their own unique voices, some of which are very clearly musical. The eerie, yet glorious song of the whale is fascinating even for us humans to hear. And even the inanimate part of creation, even the heavens themselves, offer song, very literally, we have learned. Radio astronomy has learned that the heavens are filled with stars, which are created to give off radio signals, signals which, when received by a radio, produce an incredible music, similar to the song of the whale. Even unbelieving men have noted these sounds from unexpected parts of the creation, and they have also remarked about the amazing musical qualities of these sounds, which are the sounds of the creation itself joining with believers and angels in praise of the One who has delivered us from sin, death, and the devil!

CANYON LAKE TEXAS FLOOD…
In 2002, a flood was diverted around a dam in Canyon Lake of Central Texas. The flood carved through solid bedrock, resulting in a 2 mile long canyon up to 20 feet deep within a 3 day period. Enormous boulders tumbled like marbles, and enough sediment to fill 1,000 football stadiums was instantly displaced. This event was a drop in the bucket compared to the global flood event a million times more powerful 4,500 years ago, which would have seen unfathomable destruction and resurfacing of the entire planet.

A major scientific journal highlighted this event as “offering useful insights into ancient megafloods”. However, they will continue to deny there was a global flood that covered the Earth. Why is that? Perhaps admitting the Bible is right means there is a God, and then they’d have to be accountable.

THE TOBACCO HORNWORM…
Each day the tobacco hornworm caterpillar ingests six times the lethal dosage of nicotine for humans!

The creature processes the remaining nicotine to release it through respiratory holes in its skin, to ward off wolf spiders

Until now scientists were unsure of how the tobacco hornworm processed the addictive substance to use as a weapon against hungry spiders.

They have discovered that some of the toxin enters the insect’s blood while the remainder is excreted through tiny respiratory holes on its skin and in turn works as an effective deterrent.

This is another living organism that totally defies the evolutionary process. How could this tiny caterpillar evolve to ingest a toxic amount of nicotine? If evolution were true, it wouldn’t be here! God made everything in perfect order from the very beginning.

MANTIS FISTS OF FURY…
The mantis shrimp owns the fastest arms of the water kingdom. The speed of the mantis shrimp’s punch is delivered at some 50 mph. Keep in mind the shrimp is doing this in water. If you’ve ever tried punching under water you know how slow you actually move. Think how strong you’d have to be to punch through the water as fast as a moving vehicle. The mantis shrimp’s power comes from the two club-like arms it keeps behind its head. It locks those arms in place allowing energy to build up in the muscles. For an added bonus there’s an organic spring mechanism in the joint that adds extra force. So when the local shrimp want a challenge, the mantis shrimp unleashes the force of the muscle which, when combined with the added oomph from the uncoiling spring, means the weapon is released at an acceleration which can reach 10,000 times the force of gravity! In captivity, the shrimp have been known to punch through aquarium glass!! In fact, the punch of the mantis shrimp is so fast, it actually lowers the pressure of the water in its path which–conveniently for this awesome fighter–boils the water around the punch. This amazing creature has abilities that could only have come about by special creation.

THE AMAZING ALLIGATOR…
The American Alligator is a highly complex animal that is exquisitely designed for survival in swampy waters.

The armor plated alligator has thick scaly structures called scutes covering his body. Scutes (from the Latin Scuta meaning shield) are bony external plates. When a scute has a bony base, it is called an osteoderm. The alligator has large osteoderms running down his back. These structures protect him from many predators, such as fish, while the gator is young and still low on the food chain.

The alligator is also perfectly camouflaged to its murky surroundings. Juveniles have high contrast markings to blend into the reedy and grassy habitat along the water’s edge. These markings fade with age, causing adults to appear a uniform black or dark green. This allows these apex predators to appear to be floating logs in the swamp, that is, until they lunge with surprising agility and speed to catch their prey.

The alligator is perfectly suited for his aquatic lifestyle. His eyes, nose, and ear slits are all positioned on the top of his head, allowing most of his body to remain submerged while he monitors the water surface and shoreline. When he plunges into the water, his nose and ear slits are designed to close, keeping the water out. And to find his prey underwater, he has built-in goggles: nictitating membranes, clear membranes to cover his eyes. When the Alligator attacks his prey, and drags them underwater to eat, there is a special valve at the back of his throat that allows him to open his mouth and eat his food underwater without water flooding into his throat choking him.

These are all amazing design features that God gave to the Alligator so that he can survive in the swamp.

While these creatures are certainly dangerous apex predators affected by the sin curse , it is important to remember that they still reflect the genius and handiwork of their Creator and they inspire a natural awe in us.

POLAR BEAR FUR…
The polar bear has amazing fur! A number of years ago, researchers needed to determine how many polar bears lived in the Arctic. Scientists flew over the region using an infrared detection system to count the number of bears. Surprisingly, none were found. How could this be? They knew polar bears were down there, but why were they not detected? Nature had “out-smarted” the scientists!

Infrared detectors work by detecting heat which is radiating from the body. It was discovered that polar bears were so well insulated that they experienced almost no heat loss through their fur. Therefore, they could not be detected by the infrared instruments. Scientists were ultimately successful in counting the polar bears, but they had to switch to ultraviolet sensors.

Each hair on the bear is hollow and filled with gas molecules. This slows the flow of heat as it escapes the bear’s body. The Arctic region is bitterly cold at night, so the Master Designer had to design a fur coat that would truly withstand these brutal temperatures. Polar bear fur is unlike the fur of any other bear. Polar bears need this specially designed fur in order to survive.

THE TRUE WORD OF GOD…
There is a unity of teaching in the Bible that is startling in light of being written. For example it was written by 40 different people in a timeline of 1,500 years: soldiers, kings, shepherds, statesmen and common men. These writers lived in different places: cities, deserts, palaces, and tiny towns including three different continents: in Egypt (Africa), in Italy (Europe), in Judea (Asia). They wrote at different times, including periods of war and peace, times of prosperity and great need. They expressed different moods: feelings of great joy and great sorrow, moments of fear and times of security. They wrote in three different languages including Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. They addressed many controversial topics such as history, science, philosophy, geology, cosmology, the nature of God, the role of government, the nature of mankind, moral issues, biology, political alliances, religious ceremonies.

Through all of these differences, the Bible is not a mix of contradictory ideas. It reads like one story with harmony and continuity from Genesis to Revelation. It truly is the inspired word of a Holy God.

THE PURPOSE OF SNOW…
Have you ever wondered what God’s purpose of snow is?

Snow reflects 90% of the suns rays landing on it. This keeps the snow cooler, resulting in a slower melting rate.

Why would God want snow to stay cold longer? Keeping the snow cool is important because it stores much of the water we need for later use. When snow does melt, it is usually gradual, making flooding minimal. As the snow melts, it slowly goes into the ground, making it ready for spring planting.

God designed the snow to hold water until it needed to be released. Water stored as snow protects the Earth from massive erosion that would take place if all moisture fell as rain. Snow acts as a fluffy insulation blanket for plants and creatures beneath the snow, shielding them from harsh winter temperatures. It can be 20 degrees Fahrenheit warmer near the ground under the snow than in the air above the snow.

Falling snow cleans the air. Every snowflake captures floating dust and other particles as it begins to crystallize and falls to Earth. You may have noticed
after a snowstorm that when you take a deep breath, the air smells clean and crisp as if the snow vacuumed the air for us.

The whiteness of snow is also a metaphor for God’s cleansing of our sin.
God desires for us to be as white as snow. Accepting Jesus’s sacrifice on our behalf is what brings this cleansing, making us white as the newly fallen snow.

THE DESIGN OF OUR FEET…
Did you know the special design of the human foot enables us to stand upright?

The foot is composed of three main elements that provide arch support and function: the keystone bone, wedge-shaped bones, and ligaments. The bones must be present or else the arch will fail to support and balance the weight of the body. The ligaments are essential in keeping the bones together and creating firmness and flexibility providing stability and the ability to walk, run, and jump in the vertical posture.

Conversely, apes do not have arched feet—they utilize their feet just like hands to grip things such as branches. The amazing arch is an irreducibly complex and must be there in its entirety in order for optimal upright performance. When we observe a sole we can be reminded of our faithful Creator’s love for our soul, which He formed in His image.

THE JESUS LIZARD TRAMPLES EVOLUTION…
The Basilisk lizard, also known as the “Jesus Lizard” runs across water. Not by any supernatural means of course.

Researchers in 2004 investigated the anatomy and physiology that enables this slender, roughly two-foot long reptile to scamper on water, publishing their results in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

They discovered that moving across water requires unique features. This lizard doesn’t really crawl across water—it motors. The study authors wrote the hindlimb no longer functions like a spring but instead acts more like a piston, limited to only generating force during a step. The slap phase of a step is critical for generating sufficient vertical force to balance the basilisk’s body weight, whereas both slap and stroke phases are important for generating fore–aft force.

Their hind legs also slide away from the body’s center during each step. This keeps the lizard from sinking much like the way forward motion keeps a bicycler from toppling. Its long toes provide just enough surface area. In short, it has every trait and habit required to tread water, including a lightweight body and complicated muscle coordination.

Why has nobody even proposed a step-by-step scenario by which these traits and habits could have evolved by any purely natural means? Even if they did, this type of imaginative evolutionary storytelling would be a poor substitute for science.

It is also worth noting that these lizards have absolutely no evolution seen in fossils. They are the same as their ancestral counterparts.

THE DESIGN OF THE HUMMINGBIRD…
The shape of a hummingbird’s beak allows for a “controlled elastic snap” that allows it to snatch up flying insects in a mere fraction of a second — with greater speed and power than could be achieved by jaw muscles alone!

Hummingbird beaks are built to feed on flowers, but hummingbirds can’t live on nectar alone. To get enough protein and nutrients they need to eat small insects too- 300 a day!

But how can a long, slender bill which is so well suited for sipping nectar (just the right length and shape) also be good at catching insects, and often in mid-air?

In 2004 in the journal Nature, it was reported that part of the answer lies in the hummingbird’s flexible bill. Using high speed video of three hummingbird species catching fruit flies, researchers found that the hummingbird’s bendy lower beak flexes by as much as 25 degrees when it opens, while also widening at the base to create a larger surface for catching insects.

It was discovered that as soon as the hummingbird’s beak is maximally bent, it suddenly springs back to its original position and snaps closed.

Their beaks snap shut in less than a hundredth of a second!

And we are supposed to believe this bird evolved this way? Absolutely not! The beak has been clearly designed for the purpose it was given by our Almighty Creator!

THE BIRD WORK WEEK…
Myles Willard is a former high school science teacher, an award winning nature photographer, and an avid bird watcher. Being a systematic observer of nature, Myles noticed that during the fall of each year, a large number and variety of warblers stopped to rest in a Cedar tree outside of his Michigan kitchen window. He decided to document both the variety and number of warblers migrating south. For the next 18 years, Willard compiled an impressive documentation of over 1,500 individual warbler sightings from over 20 different species.

It was upon graphing the results of these sightings that Myles made a shocking observation. He expected to see a typical bell-shaped distribution of bird sightings with the peak happening somewhere in mid-September. When he aligned the various distributions so that the peak of the migration for each individual bird species corresponded, Willard discovered a bell-shaped distribution with statistically significant dips at a 7-day period. Instead of a smooth bell curve, his data showed a bell distribution with drops (like missing teeth in a saw) every 7 days. Apparently, birds have a built-in instinct to work hard on their migration for 6 days and hold up for one day of rest.

There is no naturalistic explanation for this very significant Biblical cycle.
It is worth noting that many, many other living things work on a 7-day cycle. It’s not just limited to birds.

THE PITCHER PLANT – AMAZING CREATION…
The pitcher plant grows from swamp submerged roots every spring. Small leaves appear first, then flowers. The pitcher shaped leaves grow after the flowers fade. Each pitcher looks like a vase made out of one leaf with a hood (Operculum) like a tiny tarp draped over the opening.

These pitchers use an array of features to catch creeping insects or slugs. The plant absorbs nutrients such as nitrogen from the insects it catches. It comes in handy when the sandy soils are low on nutrients.

Each pitcher point to ingenious design. First, the specificity of its shape. Each pitcher’s hood exposes enough of the pitchers mouth to receive rainwater. This mixes with trapped insects to make a kind of soup broth. The hood’s underside and the pitcher’s lip manufacture nectar laced with a narcotic. When an insect from the forest floor takes some of the nectar, the drug makes them sluggish. Very fine inward and downward pointing hairs gently nudge its prey towards the plant’s tube. Once inside, a waxy inner lining proves too smooth for the insect to get out and the pitcher too narrow for takeoff, preventing flying insects from leaving.

On top of all this, the plant places its laced nectar with enticing scents on top of the pitcher to attract its lunch. It also secretes an enzyme into the bottom of the pitcher so its food can be properly digested.

Some might ask if this has any effect on bees, well it doesn’t. The pitcher only grows after all flower petals have fallen off, and the plant anticipates the bees’ bodies and behaviors (intelligent plants?). The flower petal and sepal arrangement permits only one bee entrance. On its way in, pollen from another flower brushes off the bee and onto the perfectly positioned part of the pistil that receives the pollen, the stigma.

One flower petal hangs from a the stalk like an upside down umbrella. It gives the bee a platform from which to collect pollen placed just overhead. Then in expert arrangement, the honeybee cannot exit the same path it entered. If it did it would pollinate the same flower. God designed a one way exit flap door to let the bee out!

The pitcher plant is a very well planned out an engineered plant that requires and demands a Creator. There no other sufficient explanation.

EVOLUTION COULD NOT DO THIS…
The ichneumon wasp (Thalessa) looks so delicate that the slightest wind ought to blow it over. Yet it lands on a hard tree trunk, and begins thumping with something that looks as delicate and frail as the leg of a daddy longlegs. But that antennae, thinner than a human hair, happens to be a high-power extension drill. The drill is about 4½ inches [11.43 cm] long, so long that it curves up and down as the small insect thumps on the hardwood with it. After thumping for a time, the tiny creature somehow knows it has found the right place to start work. Drilling begins. This little wasp uses that delicate feeler to cut its way down through several inches of solid, hard oak wood! This is totally unexplainable. Scientists have tried to solve the puzzle, but without success. The second miracle is what the wasp is drilling for; the larvae of a special beetle. How can it possibly know where to start its drill, so as to go straight down (it always drills straight down)—and reach a beetle larvae? Scientists cannot figure this out either. Somehow the initial thumping told the tiny insect that a grub was several inches down, and that it was the kind of larvae it was looking for. The ichneumon wasp lays its eggs on just one larvae, that of the Tremex. When those eggs hatch, they will have food to grow on. Then, before they grow too large, tiny ichneumon wasps come out through that original hole.

THE ORIGINAL DEEP SEA DIVERS…
Weddell seals are capable of diving 2000 feet under water and then quickly come to the surface without any harm.

If human divers did this, they could die of the bends (this is when dissolved nitrogen forms bubbles within the blood). To prevent getting the bends, human divers ascend slowly with periodic stops. If they ascend too quickly, they have to spend time in decompression chambers, or they could die. So why aren’t the seals affected by this?

Before submerging, seals empty their lungs of air. They still have oxygen in their bodies, but it is distrubuted throughout their blood and muscles, rather than held as a gas in their lungs. A seal’s body can store ten times more oxygen than the human body. As seals dive, their heartbeat slows, giving less oxygen. Also, oxygen is directed away from organs such as the liver and delivered to essential organs such as the brain, which needs more oxygen.

How did seals know to do all of this? It has no idea how to store extra oxygen in their blood and muscles. How many seals would have died during trial and error evolution? Evolution doesn’t work if all the seals have already died (it already doesn’t work at all). Only God the Creator could have made this process right from the beginning of creation.

BABY BIRD DIAPERS…
Did you know God designed baby birds to have the original disposable diapers?

Baby song birds are always hungry, and their mother is continually feeding them. But what goes in one end must come out the other! The nest could easily become a big mess. Imagine the bird nests filling up with droppings, leaving less and less space for the baby birds. This would not only be unhealthy, but enable predators to easily detect their location.

How did God solve this problem? By providing disposable diapers. Each chick’s fecal matter has a mucous membrane that surrounds it. The chick generally defecates within seconds of being fed. The parent then removes this fecal sac and deposits it away from the nest as it flies off to find additional food for the chicks. Shortly before the chicks fledge (fly away from the nest), they stop producing fecal sacs.

When you see tiny baby birds in their nests, think of how God has provided for their cleanliness and safety using the world’s first biodegradable, disposable diapers!

BEAUTY OF SNOWFLAKES…
A snowflake starts as a tiny crystal that forms around a speck of dust. As the water droplet freezes, the crystal starts to develop its six sides. As moisture is drawn into the crystal, the six branches begin to grow. As each snowflake is blown around in a cloud, it encounters different temperatures and moisture levels, resulting in no two snowflakes looking alike.

If it is extremely cold, for example below -40° F, diamond dust snowflakes form. As the temperatures increase, different shapes will form: dendrites, prisms, or hollow columns. Researchers are still mystified why the shape of snow crystals varies widely with temperature. Humidity also is a factor; the greater the humidity, the more complex the design.

The average complex snowflake is made up of 100 ice crystals. The number of ways these crystals can be arranged is staggering; the possible arrangements of these 100 crystals is greater than the total number of atoms in the universe. It’s unlikely that any two complex snow crystals since the Flood of Noah’s time have ever looked completely alike. Every snowflake is truly unique.

It is also interesting to compare man-made snow from snow making machines to “God-made” snow. Man-made snow does not have any design but looks like rough gravel. With God’s snow, each snowflake has a unique design showing His creativity. God is still giving us new designs today. The next time it snows, catch a snowflake on your dark mitten and look to see the new design God has placed before your eyes.

DESIGN OF THE PINE CONE…
Have you considered the complexity of the pine cone?

Conifer trees produce pine cones. They produce two types of cones on the same tree: the pollen cone and the seed cone. The pollen cones are usually small and inconspicuous, and once they have shed their pollen, they fall off. On a spring day, when it is windy, you can see pollen clouds being blown from a pine tree. The seed cones are the larger woody cones you may associate with pine trees. Conifers depend on the wind for pollination, and each species is designed to capture its own kind of pollen. According to one noted botanist, “The geometry of the cone functions like a wind turbine, channeling pollen around it in a way that maximizes pollination so that if pollen fails to land on one scale, it will receive pollen as it is passed on from the previous.”

Once the pollen reaches the egg, it takes more than a year for the egg to be completely fertilized. After twelve months of growth, the seed is finally mature. When the pinecone is ready to release its seeds, it waits for a dry, warm day. Then the pinecone scales open, and the seeds, with little “wings” attached, float to a new plot of land in order to grow. If the day is cold and wet, the pinecone stays shut, waiting until the day is warm and dry and a wind can blow the seeds away.

Isn’t it amazing how God used the fact that wood fibers shrink when they dry to open and close the pinecone, so the ripened seeds will be released to float away on the perfect day? The pinecone is truly an amazing design and planned creation.

UNHAPPY BONES…
A recent medical show was looking at risk factors for osteoporosis. Some risk factors include being very thin with a small skeleton, smoking, alcohol consumption, and not drinking enough water.

But scientists have also found depression to be a risk factor. It seems “depression causes inflammatory chemicals to suck away some of the bone.” In other words, a depressed person does not have a merry heart, and it will affect their bones.

The same observation was made by King Solomon 3,000 years ago :

Proverbs 17:22 – A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Wherever the Bible speaks on science, it is correct. The Bible truly is the inspired Word of God. So laugh and be a be joyful, it is good medicine for the bones.

CHAINSAW BEETLES…
The wood beetle is a thumb-sized insect that eats trees by slicing through wood fiber with its mandibles or jaws. The beetles lay their eggs in wood, and it is the larvae that bore through trees and can cause a lot of damage similar to termites. They use powerful C-shaped mandibles to do this.

One day, Oregon logger Joseph Buford Cox (1905-2002) observed these beetles larvae as he was taking a rest break from chopping wood. He noticed the C-shaped mandibles moved sideways, like scissors cutting.

Earlier in the twentieth century, chainsaws had teeth that were pointed like those on a hand saw.

The original chainsaws were just copies of hand saws. Cox decided to copy the beetle’s curved C-shaped mandibles and see what would happen. The result was astonishing; his newly designed chainsaw blade cut quickly and cleanly through wood much more efficiently than earlier designs. Cox went on to establish the Oregon Chain Saw Company.

The fact that God is behind the design of nature is truth and reality. It is our privilege to search out the Creator’s secrets and apply them to our daily lives.

YOUNG PLANET NEPTUNE…
Neptune is an enormous gas planet, the eighth planet in our solar system. This planet appears as a small bluish dot in our most powerful telescopes. Our best photos of Neptune were taken by the Voyager II spacecraft when it flew by the planet in August 1989. Based on evolutionary assumptions of an extremely old solar system, astronomers thought Neptune would be a cold, inactive place. But it was not.

Neptune has the strongest measured winds in the solar system, estimated at 1,300 mph. Its raging winds cause Neptune to have a dynamic atmosphere with two large spots, thought to be enormous atmospheric storms. The larger storm is about the same diameter as the Earth! To the amazement of evolutionary scientists, the Hubble Space Telescope revealed that these storms had dissipated in 1994, again revealing an extremely active environment upon this planet.

Evolutionary theory predicted that Neptune should be cold and dead. Instead, it was found to generate heat, radiating twice as much heat into space as it receives from the Sun. This fits well with the Creation model; a young Neptune would still be cooling off.

Evolutionary scientists believe the solar system formed from an enormous cloud of gas and dust, with the gas giants forming at the outer edges. With this model, the more distant a planet, the longer it would take to form. If the slow, gradual, and ancient development of our solar system were true, Neptune would not even exist; it is too far out to have formed. Yet Neptune does exist, with its raging winds, dynamic atmosphere, and heat generation, all of which contradict an ancient evolutionary origin. Neptune simply appears to be quite young. Perhaps it is because some 6,000 years ago, Neptune was created by God on Day 4 of the creation week.

A SAILOR’S BEST FRIEND…
In the early 1900s, Paul Sperry was a sailing enthusiast. But he had a problem. He kept slipping on the deck of his boat.

One winter day in 1935, he observed the way his cocker spaniel ran down an icy path and never slipped and fell. Examining the dogs paws, he saw they appeared to have cracks running in all directions.

Sperry found some rubber, cut grooves in a herringbone pattern, and attached it to the bottom of his sailing shoes. The improved traction was obvious on his wet deck! Sperry went on to manufacture the first non-skid deck shoes. (The Sperry shoes are manufactured today)
God is the FIRST and BEST Designer.

EFFECTS OF THE CURSE…
The original creation of the earth was complete: “God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 21, 25). The world around us has changed from the time of the Garden of Eden and post-Flood. The change was a result of the Fall of man—an event which altered the world and God’s original creation. Immediately following this event God spoke to Adam, saying, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field”

We have thorns and thistles and ultimately death as a result of the curse.

Jesus was crucified while wearing a crown of thorns that was beaten into his forehead. It wasn’t placed there gently. I do not believe this was by coincidence.

Jesus broke the curse so that WE can have the chance to be saved and LIVE with Him eternally, where there is no longer pain or death.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

THERE’S MORE TO BLOOD THAN MEETS THE EYE…
Did you know red blood cells are disk-shaped with a concave center on both sides?
A scientific study was conducted to determine the most efficient shape of a red blood cell in carrying oxygen. They came up with a calculation utilizing the law of gas diffusion and input the equation into a computer.

Surprisingly, the shape that resulted was a bi-concave disk, the precise contour of a red blood cell! The cells’ smooth, curved edges, along with the thicker rim, allow the red blood cells to glide through the thin capillaries. Our red blood cells have the perfect shape needed for efficiently traveling through our blood vessels with high capacity and speed.

God created even the smallest parts of our body to work in a harmonious system.

GOD MADE THE FRIGATEBIRD…
Frigatebirds can fly 12,000 feet (4,000 meters) above the ocean waters. The air is usually very cold that high up.

The frigatebird’s heart rate stays at a normal rate as it glides for hours very high in the air. This means they aren’t even working hard to stay in flight.

Frigatebirds have the largest wingspan compared to their body weight of any bird. These are the perfect dimensions to help them glide expertly and stay in the air for days at a time with very little effort.

Frigatebirds are the only birds that purposefully fly into clouds. They find big fluffy clouds (called cumulus clouds) to fly into. These clouds form over the ocean where warm air rises.
This forms an updraft, and the bird can ride up with almost no effort. This strategy works so well one bird flew for 40 miles (64 kilometers) This means they aren’t resting on the water during those weeks at sea.

THE CREATED JAWFISH…
When jawfish mate, the female lays her 400 eggs inside the mouth of the male jawfish. He then abstains from eating for 2 weeks during incubation, and repeatedly juggles the eggs in and out of its mouth to get enough oxygen to the eggs the entire time. One has to wonder how this could have possibly evolved. This is clearly an ingrained behavior that only God could have perfected. Everything around us exists in a perfect system that evolution has no real answers for.

SOME SEA SLUGS WILL SEVER THEIR OWN HEADS…
But it doesn’t kill them. Sacoglossan sea slugs will do this in order to regenerate new body parts.

The sea slugs have a “transverse groove at their neck, which appears to be a predetermined ‘breakage plane’”

Evolutionists must assert that this evolved by a naturalistic trial-and-error, step-by-step process. Imagine a sea slug that had accumulated accidental DNA changes (mutations) that caused it to cast off its body. Unless it had already evolved all of the machinery and programming required to regenerate its entire cast-off body, it would be dead, and there would be no further offspring, obviously. So those DNA changes would not pass to future generations, and the whole process would have come to an end. In short, it seems that, like for so many other natural marvels, all the components of the system would need to be present together to be of any benefit. Which means it could not have evolved by any Darwinian process in ‘stages’. Such a wonder of nature should rightly be ascribed to the Creator God of Genesis.
