Revealing The Mysteries Of Heaven

Won’t Heaven Be Boring?

Introduction

Most of us have worked our entire life saving up for the day when we can get rid of our alarm clock, sleep late, and live each day without a single thing we have to do nor any deadline for getting it done.   When that day finally comes, we are liable to wake up and realize that we have absolutely nothing to do, no plans for the day, and nothing to make our day worthwhile – we are bored!   Boredom is a state of mind.   We just haven’t figured out what to do or how we can be of some use to this old world.

When we think of Heaven, we think about what we have been told we will be doing – praising and worshipping Jesus – and even though that is an important part of our daily activities there, we are concerned that Heaven might be boring!   Let’s look at five reasons why Heaven cannot and will not be boring.

Just keep in mind:

1Co 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1Jn_3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1. Heaven Will Not Be Boring Because God Is Not Boring!

Psa 16:11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

What exists in God’s presence?   Fullness of joy!   What do we find at His right hand?   Pleasures for evermore!   Can we as humans be so arrogant as to think we invented fun instead of God?   God invented pleasure!

2. Heaven Will Not Be Boring Because You Will Not Be Boring!

Whatever our personalities and temperaments are now, we’re going to be so vastly improved that we will be incapable of being bored or of being boring.   What will we be like?

1Co 15:42  So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

1Co 15:43  It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

1Co 15:44  It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Php 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Php 3:21  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

We may not be able to comprehend what Jesus is like with our worldly minds but we are told by the scriptures that we will be like Him!

3. Heaven Will Not Be Boring Because Your Friends Will Not Be Boring!

We shouldn’t worry about being bored because our friends will not be boring and they don’t like to hang out with boring people.   Who will we know there?

Heb 12:22  But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

Heb 12:23  To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Heb 12:24  And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Imagine being able to fellowship with angels, Adam & Eve, Noah, Moses, and all that have gone on before us!

4. Heaven Will Not Be Boring Because Your Work Will Not Be Boring!

Rev 22:3  And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

Rev 22:4  And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

Rev 22:5  And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

We don’t know now how we will serve God in Heaven but The Bible clearly states we will serve and reign.   We’ll have to wait until we arrive to get our job description.

5. Heaven Will Not Be Boring Because Heaven Is The Place You’ve Always Longed For!

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Rom 8:19  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Rom 8:20  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

Rom 8:21  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Rom 8:22  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Rom 8:23  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

There is a hunger with all creation and even among us who have God’s Spirit within us.   It’s a yearning and an anticipation for the coming day of ultimate redemption.   The redemption process unleashed at calvary isn’t finished yet.   God won’t be finished until all creation is redeemed and we yearn for that day.   The decaying world around us will be replaced at the end of time by the New Heaven and the new earth, and the new city of Jerusalem.   That’s what we truly crave.   Come Lord Jesus!
