Your Future Super Body
Introduction
When God made Adam and Eve He created them with super bodies – bodies that would never get sick, age, or die – bodies that would live forever. That all changed when Adam & Eve sinned. God punished them by bringing a curse on them and this world that included death and disease. Before the great flood of Noah’s time, people still could expect to live hundreds of years but after the flood life spans dropped quickly to less that a hundred years. Today the average life span for the world is 70 and the average for the U.S. is 79. Women usually live a few years longer than men.
The Bible makes numerous references to our mortality:
Job bemoaned it.
Job 7:6 My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.
Job 9:25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
David acknowledged it.
1Ch 29:15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.
James said we have no hope for the morrow.
Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Moses sang about it.
Psa 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
David wrote that our life is fleeting.
Psa 102:11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
The Resurrection Chapter Of The Bible
The Bible constantly speaks about eternal lives we can all expect to have – saved and unsaved alike – some in Heaven – some in Hell. God created us with eternity in our hearts. We are made for something more than planet earth, and we’re made to live longer than a shadow or vapor. We’re made for Heaven! As we have already discussed, when we die our body goes to the grave and our spirit and soul, with temporary bodies, either go to Heaven or Hell. When Jesus comes in the air, during The Rapture, we who are saved will come with Him and our bodies will be resurrected from the grave, reformed to be like Jesus, and reunited with our spirit and soul. We have many questions – what will the resurrection be like and what will our resurrected and reformed bodies look like and how will they function?
The Bible provides some but not all answers to these questions.
Though our bodies may deteriorate, they will be restored and we will face Jesus in them.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Job 19:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Our bodies will be resurrected from the grave to be reformed.
Isa 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
We will all be resurrected but not all for Heaven.
Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Jesus taught that we all – saved and unsaved – will live for eternity.
Joh 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Joh 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
The next prophetic event is The Rapture. There are is no other prophecy yet to be fulfilled before it may occur.
1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The most detailed description in The Bible of a resurrected body.
1Co 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
1Co 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
1Co 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
1Co 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
1Co 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
1Co 15:40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
1Co 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
1Co 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
1Co 15:43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
The Resurrection Certainties Of The Bible
We have just read scripture assuring us of a resurrection and a glorified body:
1. Our new bodies will be raised in incorruption, so they will be indestructible. Our present bodies will grow old and die but our new bodies will live forever.
2. They will be raised in glory, so they will be identifiable. We will be recognized and able to recognize everyone in Heaven – not just our earthly friends and relatives.
3. They will be raised in power, so they will be incredible. We will have a body like Jesus – able to pass thru walls and many other powers.
4. They will be raised as spiritual bodies, so they will be infinite. Jesus had a material body and so will we – not governed by our appetites but by The Holy Spirit. We will not be a spiritual vapor.
Conclusion
Life on earth is fragile and uncertain, but we have a Savior who died for our sins according to the Scriptures and was buried and raised on the third day according to Scriptures. And by the grace of God we await that wonderful day when we’ll be raised incorruptible and given our new supernatural bodies made by Christ. This will not be a hard thing for God to do. The Bible says “Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?” (Acts 26:8)
